Our Mission
How Can We Help?
Our mission is to ‘give people, systems, and communities access to life transformative messaging and trainings.’
“We often tell people that they should get themselves together. But do we realize that we might be asking them to arrive at a destination and we are not really giving them access to the multiple pathways to get there? This is through no fault of our own.
As a result of my lived experience, I have come to understand that our engagement into services very often alienates people from the very outcomes they are designed to promote, i.e. What’s right with you? -vs- What’s wrong with you?
Recovery on Fire is designed to communicate with the whole person as a person. Not as offender, not as a client, not as a case study, not as a participant, but simply as a person.
I was the King of Consequences.
In that collaboration is the information that changes peoples lives. Recovery on Fire is committed to lending this innovative messaging to the recovery community on the local, state, and national levels.” – Bill C.

Testimonials
From Our Trusted Supporters and Clients
“Bill is a dynamic public speaker who puts everything into helping others. He shares the message of recovery like no one else I know–with passion, energy, and heart. Every time I hear him speak; I get goosebumps!”
“I have known Billy Caruthers as a colleague working in learned halls and in the trenches to educate our community and to provide stability and direction to survivors of mental illness. He has continually proven to be a healing nexus between law enforcement, social and mental health workers, and our communities they serve. I have witnessed Billy educating peers, professional case workers, and other mental health providers in one-on-one sessions, in classrooms and in conferences. His presence and persona are without measure when considering the healing and understanding that he has brought to our community and to many others. He is a bright beacon of hope in the otherwise sometimes dark, frustrating, and complicated environment of mental health survival for survivors, their caregivers, and allies.”
“I have known Bill since 2009 when I had the pleasure of being a part of hiring Bill as a Peer Navigator in Opening Doors to Recovery. As CEO of Pineland CSB we were an active partner in an innovative research grant funded by Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation (BMSF) to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), entitled Opening Doors to Recovery (ODR). The goal was to reduce recidivism back into hospitals and jails of 100 of our most severely psychiatrically disabled individuals in Region S. The two million grant funding was to hire 4 Teams of Navigators (Professional, Family and Peer) to provide intensive case management while linking individuals with resources to ensure adequate treatment, meaningful day and safe housing. A major part of the ODR Grant was strengthening of community partnerships so that all stakeholders were onboard. Some of the major partners were law enforcement, judges, legal community, DFCS, Department of Labor, and housing authorities and they all loved working with Bill.” ….(continued….
